Authorities Discover Explosives and Weapons in North Bexar County Home |
A 39-year-old San Antonio resident, Nathan James Henderson, has been arrested on multiple charges, including terrorism, after authorities uncovered a cache of weapons and explosives in his North Bexar County home.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) initiated an investigation following a credible tip received on July 4, 2025. A relative reported that Henderson had expressed intentions to harm Black and Jewish individuals, identifying himself as a white supremacist and Nazi. He also allegedly admired New York murder suspect Luigi Mangione. On July 11, a multi-agency team, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the San Antonio Police Department Bomb Squad, executed a search warrant at Henderson's residence on Oracle Drive. The search revealed multiple firearms, ammunition, 24 inert grenades with striker mechanisms, and materials commonly used to create improvised explosive devices. Notably, some grenades had been partially modified, indicating experimentation with explosive devices. Investigators also discovered notebooks containing extremist ideology and vague plans to disrupt public venues, along with letters addressed to known white supremacists involved in hate and race-related crimes. Neighbors expressed shock and concern over the findings. One resident, Mario Ramirez, remarked, "It would’ve blown up the whole neighborhood," referring to the potential danger posed by the explosives. Henderson now faces charges of terrorism, hoax bombs, prohibited weapons, and components of explosives. This marks the first time the BCSO has pursued a terrorism charge under Texas's newly enacted state law, which classifies the offense as a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison. The BCSO expressed gratitude to its partners at the ATF, SAPD Bomb Squad, and the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office for their swift efforts in preventing potential harm to the community.
