The Northside Independent School District has implemented a new policy banning cellphones and other communication devices throughout the school day, in compliance with a new Texas law. Nathan James Henderson, a 39-year-old San Antonio man, has been arrested after local authorities uncovered a cache of weapons and explosives at his North Bexar County residence.
Following a tip from a family member, law enforcement discovered that Henderson harbored extremist views, allegedly targeting Black and Jewish communities, and admired known hate-crime suspects.
On July 11, a joint task force including the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, ATF, and San Antonio Police conducted a search on Oracle Drive, seizing numerous firearms, ammunition, and 24 inert grenades, some partially modified for explosive experimentation.
Investigators also found notebooks filled with white supremacist ideology and vague plots against public venues.
Henderson faces charges under Texas’s new terrorism law, a first for the county, and could face up to life in prison.
